Cool twitter mashup: Trendsmap
The people at Retailmenot have brought the twitter Trending Topics to a new level.
Everybody who is familiar with twitter knows about 'Trending Topics' which is a list of topics that are talked about the most but this only on a global level. With Trendmap this is taken from a global view to a view per region, country or even city. this way you can find out what is talked about in Amsterdam or in the United Kingdom. This way you can find what is hot in your region and what shows to attend and what is talked about.
Trendsmap makes use of various services on the web. Obviously twitter's Trending Topics, Google maps to project the data on but also What The Trend to show what the topic is about. Further when you click on a topic you get a box on the right that shows you the tree most recent tweets about the subject in that geographic location and also links to relevant sites and multimedia on the topic.
