According to Techcrunch who have there information from a reliable source the Google Chrome OS is to launch within a week.
Last July the public was informed about the plans from Google to create there own Operating System, in later communications that made statements that the first version would be available in fall of this year. The biggest problem the new born OS will probably face is the limited hardware support. Devices that probably will be supported from the get go are the some netbooks like the Asus Eee PC.

GO: Google's programing language

Today Google announced the release of a new programming language called GO. The reason Google mentions to release this new language is that the rest of the languages are starting to get dated. Current languages are not designed with multiple CPU's, massive clusters, client/server, sprawling libraries and dependency chains in mind. After the release of Google Wave (Communications) and now GO the big thing Google is not operating in is the desktop OS segment. I'm curious when and how this is going to happen.
